FAQs

At Calm Horizons Counselling, we make online therapy simple, private, and accessible, allowing you to receive support from the comfort of your home. Our compassionate, flexible approach ensures you feel heard, understood, and supported on your journey towards healing and growth.
What are the benefits of Online Sessions?
Online counselling offers flexibility, privacy, and convenience, allowing you to access support from home or anywhere without the need to travel. It’s ideal for those in remote areas, with mobility challenges, or seeking consistent care during busy or unpredictable times. Plus, it broadens your options, helping you find the right counsellor regardless of location.
What can I expect during a counselling session?
In a Calm Horizons Counselling session, you’ll find a safe, confidential space to share openly. Sharon offers attentive listening, thoughtful guidance, and a collaborative approach to help you explore solutions and support personal growth.
Are the sessions covered by Medicare?
As of 2025, counsellors are not included under Medicare’s Better Access initiative. While psychologists are covered, most don’t bulk bill, leaving patients with out-of-pocket costs often exceeding $160 per session. Counselling can be a more affordable, accessible option for those seeking timely and confidential support without long wait times or high gap fees.
What I need to know if I can't attend my session:
Do you provide Emergency or crisis counselling out of hours?
Calm Horizons Counselling is not a crisis service and cannot provide after-hours support.
If you're in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 for 24/7 free support.
For immediate safety concerns, call Emergency Services on 000.
Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged. Appointments can be changed or cancelled at no cost with at least 48 hours’ notice. Changes made within 24–48 hours incur a 50% fee, and cancellations or no-shows under 24 hours are charged in full. We understand life happens—if unexpected circumstances arise, please get in touch to discuss your options.
Payment
We accept bank transfer (cleared before your session), credit card, and PayPal. To secure your booking, payment is required at the time of scheduling. If you have any questions or concerns about payment, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Do you provide SMS or email counselling?
Unfortunately that is not a service we provide.
