At Calm Horizons Counselling, therapy is designed to be accessible, flexible, and tailored to you. Whether you prefer Online sessions, In-person support, or Walk and Talk therapy, you can engage in a way that feels most comfortable. With a compassionate and thoughtful approach, you’ll be met with understanding and care as you move towards healing and personal growth.

What are the benefits of Online Sessions?

Online counselling offers flexibility, privacy, and convenience, allowing you to access support from home or anywhere without the need to travel. It’s ideal for those in remote areas, with mobility challenges, or seeking consistent care during busy or unpredictable times. Plus, it broadens your options, helping you find the right counsellor regardless of location.

What are the benefits of In-Person Sessions?

In-person sessions offer a dedicated, private space away from everyday distractions, allowing you to fully focus on yourself and the therapeutic process. Being face-to-face can deepen connection through both verbal and non-verbal communication, helping you feel more understood and supported. Many people also find the structured, physical environment grounding, creating a clearer sense of separation from daily stress and a stronger commitment to their progress.

What are the benefits of Walk-&-Talk Therapy?

Walk and talk therapy offers a relaxed, natural setting that can make it easier to open up and reflect. Gentle movement can support emotional processing and help reduce feelings of stress or intensity. For many, being outdoors also brings a sense of calm and perspective, supporting clarity and wellbeing.

What can I expect during a counselling session?

In a Calm Horizons Counselling session, you’ll find a safe, confidential space to share openly. Sharon offers attentive listening, thoughtful guidance, and a collaborative approach to help you explore solutions and support personal growth.

Are the sessions covered by Medicare?

As of 2025, counsellors are not included under Medicare’s Better Access initiative. While psychologists are covered, most don’t bulk bill, leaving patients with out-of-pocket costs often exceeding $160 per session. Counselling can be a more affordable, accessible option for those seeking timely and confidential support without long wait times or high gap fees.

What I need to know if I can't attend my session:

Payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged. Appointments can be changed or cancelled at no cost with at least 48 hours’ notice. Changes made within 24–48 hours incur a 50% fee, and cancellations or no-shows under 24 hours are charged in full. We understand life happens—if unexpected circumstances arise, please get in touch to discuss your options.

Do you provide Emergency or crisis counselling out of hours?

If you're in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 for 24/7 free support.
