Walk-and-Talk Therapy

(WATT)

A different kind of space to talk

Walk & Talk Therapy offers a gentle shift, away from four walls and into something more open, natural, and grounded.

If you’re looking for a counselling experience that feels a little different, this may be a supportive place to begin.

Where Sessions Take Place:

We meet in nature-based environments, including parks and beaches, that support calm and wellbeing

Why Walk & Talk Therapy?

This approach can feel lighter, more open, and less intense than sitting in a room.

  • Feel more at ease and less pressured

  • Support clearer thinking and reflection

  • Experience the calming effects of nature and fresh air

  • Allow conversations to flow more naturally

  • Gently reconnect with your body and surroundings

For many people, walking helps things “shift” in a way that talking alone sometimes can’t.

What a session looks like

A Walk & Talk session is similar to a standard counselling session - just outdoors.

  • 50-60 minute individual session

  • Walk at a pace that suits you

  • You don’t need to walk the whole time

  • We can pause, sit, or rest whenever needed

  • Open spaces or benches can be used if you prefer to stop and talk

This is your space - movement is optional, not expected.

Please note: WATT is currently available for individual counselling only.

Beach Walks offer another gentle and restorative alternative within our Walk and Talk Therapy (WATT) approach. Surrounded by the calming rhythm of the ocean, fresh sea air, and the natural beauty of Western Australia’s stunning white sandy beaches, beach walking sessions provide a peaceful space to talk, reflect, and reconnect with yourself in nature.

For many people, walking alongside the coastline can help ease stress, encourage mindfulness, and create a greater sense of calm and clarity. Beach Walks can be especially supportive for those who feel more comfortable talking while moving, or who simply enjoy the grounding and therapeutic benefits of being outdoors in a relaxed and natural environment.

Getting started

We begin gently, creating a space where you can feel at ease

Step 1 - Initial session (in-person)
We meet in a private consultation room to get to know each other and explore what you’re looking for.

Step 2 - Is WATT the right fit?
Together, we decide whether Walk & Talk Therapy suits your needs and preferences.

Step 3 - Review the WATT Policy
You’ll be guided to a separate page outlining important information, including consent, privacy, and safety considerations.

Step 4 - Begin outdoor sessions.
When you feel ready, we transition to Walk & Talk sessions.

Therapy
A Flexible Approach
Beacause we're working outdoors, sessions depend on conditions.
If needed, your sessions will be adjusted to ensure your comfort and safety.
Situations that may require a change include:

  • Rain or storms
  • Extreme heat, cold, or high UV
  • Strong winds
  • Smoke or poor air quality
  • Wet or unsafe walking surfaces
  • Park maintenance (eg. mowing, pesticide spraying, closures or events)

If plans need to change

If a Walk & Talk session can’t go ahead, we’ll move to:

  • An in-person session indoors (if available), or

  • An online session

This ensures your support continues without interruption.

A few things to keep in mind

  • Outdoor sessions mean privacy can't be fully guaranteed

  • There may be natural distractions (people, dogs, sounds)

  • Comfortable clothing, footwear, water, and sun protection are recommended

  • Sessions can be adjusted to suit your pace and physical comfort
